The opportunity

Altus Group has an immediate opening for a Consultant within our Research, Valuation and Advisory (RVA) business unit to work on best-in-class client accounts throughout Edmonton and extending across Western Canada. Reporting to the General Manager and Senior Director, this is an opportunity to join a premier organization with national and international brand recognition.

We need someone who can uphold the high standards of Altus Group, deliver excellent work as a Consultant and play a key role building and nurturing client relationships, conducting appraisals and  delivering analyses.

What will your career path look like

This role is a significant step towards career growth that includes working on increasingly high-profile clients independently, on more complex projects and a step up to a Senior Consultant or a Manager on an asset and valuation oversight team within the next 3-5 years. As we grow, the need for new, innovative leaders with genuine team building skills, to move up and over into different areas, exists.

Who you will report to

Reporting to Ryan Zacharuk, General Manager and Senior Director, you will have an opportunity to learn from and be mentored by an expert in the field with 15 years of experience. With a breadth and depth of knowledge gained from working closely with clients across Canada, Ryan has expertise working across multiple CRE sectors, creating business growth strategies and building strong teams. Ryan believes in giving his team the guidance and knowledge they need to thrive in autonomous client-facing roles.

Our new Consultant/ Senior Consultant will focus on:

  • Preparation of accurate appraisal reports. You will:
    • Collaborate with internal and external partners to obtain the latest market information.
    • Use the latest industry standard software such as ARGUS Enterprise, to develop cash flow projections.
    • Ensure data collected for assignments is entered accurately into the company database in a timely fashion.
  • Development of internal and external relationships. You will:
    • Nurture client relationships to extend contracts, up-sell, cross-sell and secure long term opportunities.
    • Manage ongoing client communications, resolve issues and escalate to the next level of management as required.
    • Attend company initiatives and industry events to engage external network.
    • Grow internal network and relationships to facilitate information sharing, cross selling and expansion of service offerings to clients.
    • Provide coaching and knowledge sharing to analysts and senior analysts.
  • Professional development. You will:
    • Maintain AACI candidacy.
    • Research and implement initiatives for continuous process improvement to increase efficiency and effectiveness.

Our new Consultant/ Senior Consultant, RVA will have:

  • The education. You have a university degree in business, real estate or a related discipline. You are pursuing, or you have your AACI designation.
  • The experience. You have 2+ years of relevant commercial real estate experience in advisory services and valuation consulting.
  • The knowledge. You have a strong business acumen and experience-based knowledge of the commercial real estate industry and Canadian market dynamics.
  • The technical skills. You have excellent financial modeling skills in ARGUS, Excel, etc. You are proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • The analytical skills. You have strengths in research and working with quantitative and qualitative data.
  • Ability to teach others how to use the latest technology.
  • The consulting skills. You have excellent written skills and can formulate comprehensive appraisal and consulting reports. Your presentation and communication skills are outstanding and you can build relationships, gaining the trust of your clients. You are a team player who can function autonomously and fit in both on client-site and as part of your home-base.
